Roehampton is a unique neighbourhood that combines the University of Roehampton campus with quiet village streets and direct access to Richmond Park — one of London's largest Royal Parks. The area offers a distinctive learning environment where you can transition from calm residential lanes to the challenging A3 dual carriageway within minutes, all while surrounded by green open spaces.
Your mock test runs under real test conditions around Roehampton, covering demanding roads including Roehampton Lane and Upper Richmond Road, and heads towards Isleworth Test Centre (5 miles away). Roehampton Lane is a long, straight road with a speed limit that changes between 30mph and 40mph zones — learners must stay alert to sign changes. Experiencing these conditions under exam pressure during a mock test means the real test holds no surprises.
We recommend 2-3 mock test sessions in the final 2 weeks before your test. One to identify weaknesses, one to address them, and a final one to confirm you are ready. A mock test is the clearest way to find out whether you are ready before you pay for the real thing.
Exact test-day procedure — from meeting the examiner to the eyesight check, "show me tell me" questions, and the 40-minute drive
The road types, junctions and manoeuvres examiners favour around your local centre — the DVSA has not published official routes since 2010, so we prepare you for the conditions, not a memorised sequence
How the marking system works — understanding the difference between minor faults, serious faults, and dangerous faults
Independent driving sections using both road signs and the sat-nav, including the new "pull up on the right" manoeuvre
Emergency stop technique and the specific situations where the examiner asks for it
Time and stress management so the real test feels like just another practice run
Every area has its unique road conditions. Here is what you will learn to handle confidently with our Roehampton instructors:
Roehampton Lane is a long, straight road with a speed limit that changes between 30mph and 40mph zones — learners must stay alert to sign changes
The A3 Robin Hood junction is a complex multi-lane roundabout where traffic moves fast and correct lane selection is critical for reaching your exit safely
Richmond Park gates create bottleneck traffic at weekends and sunny evenings with pedestrians, cyclists, and horses sharing the road
The Alton Estate road network has tight corners, speed bumps, and limited visibility junctions that require slow, careful observation
Upper Richmond Road carries a high volume of traffic heading between Putney and Richmond with bus lanes that change hours throughout the day
Our instructors share insider knowledge that only comes from years of teaching in this area:
Richmond Park is open to vehicles and has a 20mph speed limit throughout — it offers a calm, scenic environment to practise driving on winding roads with deer crossings and cyclists
The University campus roads during holiday periods provide empty, well-marked roads perfect for manoeuvre practice
Roehampton Lane is ideal for practising speed limit transitions — you will need this skill for the Isleworth Test Centre routes

A mock test session lasts 2 hours. The first hour is a full simulated test under exam conditions — your instructor stays silent (just like an examiner) and marks you using the official DVSA marking sheet. The second hour is a debrief where you review every junction, manoeuvre, and decision. You receive a written score sheet showing exactly where you gained faults and specific advice on fixing each one.
Roehampton is a hidden gem for learner drivers. The combination of quiet residential streets, university roads, Richmond Park driving, and fast A3 access gives you an incredibly varied training ground all within a small area. The calm green surroundings help reduce learning anxiety while still providing genuine road challenges.
